Map of Europe

Map of Europe View Interactive Version ]

At least eight engraved wall maps and two Indian maps on leather hung in the Entrance Hall at Monticello. According to an inventory made by Martha Jefferson Randolph following his death, the engraved maps were those of "Europe, Asia, Africa, South America, Map of the World, United States, 2 of Virginia."1

This map of Europe by renowned map-maker Aaron Arrowsmith, though not directly linked to Jefferson, is very likely a copy of, or similar to, one ordered by Jefferson.
