Site 23 - Slave Quarter View Interactive Version ]

This site and neighboring Site 19 are two distinct clusters of domestic artifacts, each associated with a slave quarter. Creamware, pearlware, green bottle glass, wrought nails and hand-made brick all attest to the quarters being occupied during Jefferson's lifetime.

This quarter along with the neighboring quarter and nailery was most likely under the direct supervision of Edmund Bacon who lived at Site 17, which overlooks this area from the hill a hundred yards to the north.
