In an 1809 survey of his fields on the Monticello home farm, Jefferson seems to have included this field as part of the Riverfield. On March 29, 1812 he notes that had "sowed fiorin grass seed . . . in the Meadow," and by 1816 the "Meadow" is listed as one of six fields being cultivated at Monticello as part of seven-year crop rotation scheme.
