Square Field View Interactive Version ]

The Square Field was part of the Lego quarter farm. In 1797, Jefferson received and noted in his Farm Book an estimate that it might produce three and a half barrels of corn annually. In 1810, he noted his plan to "clean up" forty acres of the Square Field for corn and the next year designated it and the Oblong Field as one area for a crop-rotation scheme of corn, peas (or oats or millet), wheat, and clover.
